High maintenance costs and difficulty in operating a rod driven progressive cavity pump on a horizontal axis brought rise to the development of a hydraulic driver that could provide sufficient torque to operate a progressive cavity pump both in a vertical and horizontal position in a wellbore. CJS and MetalTek Machining, both of Lloydminster, have cooperated to design and manufacture this new downhole hydraulic driver operated in conjunction with a unique FLATpak umbilical incorporating downhole chemical injection and fluid level monitoring capability.

Alongside its Calgary partner Source Rock Energy Partners Inc., CJS developed JetPak, a non-invasive cleanout technology. JetPak uses a modified jet pump conveyed on FLATpak™, providing a deliquification method that ensures no pressure surging during a cleanout operation. Because fluid from one zone is not pushed into another, JetPak does not diminish gas production following cleanout. JetPak provides the ideal solution for gas wells that require deliquification but for which artificial lift system installation cannot be economically justified. Hundreds of wells have been successfully cleaned out using the new technology.

Following the development of the JetPak system, CJS & Source Rock Energy worked with their Canadian JetPak licensee, Quantum Downhole Systems Inc. to design and prototype certain improvements to the JetPak jet pump. Our new system, we call JetVak, permits concurrent pumping while jetting facilitating efficiency in cleaning out horizontal well laterals. Operating through Quantum in Canada, the JetVak technology is now established as a viable replacement for conventional horizontal well cleanout procedures. JetVak offers the following advantages:
